How We Research & Judge

We don’t have a warehouse lab, and we won’t pretend we do. What we have is a process — the same one, applied to every product, in the open.

Our research process

  1. Define the job. Every review starts with the recurring problem the product claims to solve, and how often a small-kitchen cook actually has it.
  2. Compare the specs that matter. Dimensions first (will it fit your drawer, cabinet, and appliance?), then materials, capacity, and care requirements — pulled from manufacturers, not marketing copy.
  3. Mine the owner reviews. We read across rating levels on multiple retailers and keep a structured log of recurring complaints: what breaks, what annoys, what disappoints by month three. One-star reviews get the closest read.
  4. Cross-check the community. We verify patterns against owner discussions on Reddit and specialist forums to separate real flaws from one-off defects and misuse.
  5. Size it against reality. Where size matters — air fryer liners are the classic trap — we publish the measurement tables ourselves so you can check your exact model before you buy.
  6. Issue the verdict. Every review ends with the Drawer Verdict, and every pick lists its drawbacks in the same size font as its strengths.

Verdict levels

  • Earns the Drawer ✓ (80+) — Recommended. It pays its rent.
  • On Probation (60-79) — Worth it only if [specific condition]. We name the condition.
  • Doesn’t Earn It ✗ (<60) — Skip it. We tell you what to do instead.

Update policy: We revisit our guides at least quarterly, and whenever a pick’s rating pattern changes materially. Updated pages show a “Last updated” date at the top.
